Download I downloaded this from the Amazon App store on to my Kindle Fire 10 HD
Then used a laptop to go to Simply Piano website to register my account.
Lots of PROS for this app but Im starting by giving a heads up on the limitations.

Compatability,
You need to download it from Amazon to get access to it on a Kindle fire.
The company has been wonderful with communication and Im delighted with the product.
Things to know:
1. When I contacted Simply the people behind SImply Piano, SImply Guitar Simply Sing and Simply Draw, to try to purchase a subscription for continued use, they told me they no longer support Amazon devices. So no more updates, and this is also why if you try to contact them via the app, why they don't reply.
KEEP THE FAITH they are fantastic!
2. On their own site the only buttons to purchase the app, are from the google playstore, or similar. HOWEVER as long as you got it via amazon, there is a way to subscribe if you contact them via their own website.
3. Because they were no longer doing updates for Kindle and not talking directly to it and when I asked them in Jan 2024 had no plans to change that, they didn't want to sell me a subscription because they were worried it wouldn't work. After I assured them I was a total beginner and would be a while before any known issues with note recognition would be a problem they were able to send me a link to purchase a subscription.
4. There is a known bug on Kindles and also Android devices in general that means sometimes even when you press the correct key, the app does'nt recognise that you did. If you are a total beginner, its a while before thats a problem though. I turned the volume on the tablet lower, so that the microphone was more able to hear the notes I was playing. Which helped greatly.
5. To see if it would improve note recognition, I have contacted amazon and will try a cable, turns out the port on my one is USB C, which connector end you need to your keyboard/digital piano will vary tho,so check your manuals for the correct ones.
6. Some people have said it makes their kinde freeze, yes sometimes it does, but not that often on mine and I just close the app do a restart and Im back in.

Now for all the PROS of this fantastic app

My ADHD loved this app, its so rewarding to use and has taught me more since NOvember than in my past playing by ear tinkering in over 40 years.

You go through basics, and three starter courses so you have the basics down, and can then choose between Classical music or various chord focused songs.

There is quite a mix of music, and new titles added regularly too.
What I love is that it doesn't overwhelm you with too much information all at once. It has visuals, that are simple (sorry for the pun) to follow, you can pause at any time, and redo. You use your devices microphone to listen to your playing and the music scrolls across the page as you play.

Call me a big kid, but I like the reward system of stars, to help track your progress. Each time you learn more skills there are more and more songs available for you to practice with. You are taught them a bit at a time and then play the song as a whole, along with backing music.

After you have done basics, essentials levels 1,2 and 3 Then you open access to loads of songs to choose from. that is when you can choose weather you want to focus on classical music, or on chords for more pop songs. You still keep all the songs you have 'earnt' along the way.

Its so much fun. The notes are large format, so if your eyesight isn't the best that helps. In the learning area the background has colour and then only the area with the bar lines is white, with the black notes.

There are lots of demos on video streaming sites if you want more screen shots before you decide but this is so interactive and varies its pace with your skill level that for me it was a real winner.

No matter your age, its not too late to give it a go. I chose to use a Yamaha Piagerro 15 to practice with, no the keys are not weighted, which some may criticise, but with limited dexterity, it made playing accessable not impossible.

This app and the skills its taught me are a dream come true, and a company that is hesitant to sell you their product rather than after you to buy even if it won't work, tells me they are a good one to trust.
Hope you give it a go, and at the end of the trial, open the website from a browser not from within the app and do a live chat with the company, as they can help you subscribe for continued use.
