Description

Own a great piece of CIVIL WAR History. This RARE Civil War collectible was obtained at the EARLY AMERICAN HISTORY AUCTIONS on April 22, 2000. This is one of the RARE Stereoview Photographs from the CIVIL WAR...I loved researching this soldier. I'm such a history buff & this Captain has quite a history! It features Union soldiers at their Tent...the bearded soldier (Right) is identified as U.S.A. CAPTAIN CHARLES ALBERT CURTIS! The piece has light stains on both sides, but is in overall good condition. Charles and his wife served the Union Army on the plains of New Mexico and in a fort when he & his 200 soldiers were attacked by 3000 Indians. They expected to be overpowered any minute and a soldier was detailed to stand by his wife with gun loaded, ready to shoot her the minute the Indians raided. This was the only merciful course to take. Fortunately, they were able to drive them away.
