The Wingman is the third book in the Vancouver Storm Series. The Wingman follows MFC Darcy who is a mathematical analyst genius. Darcy has just broken up with her ex and is struggling with her confidence in talking with guys, and has a few emotional issues brought on by the treatment of her ex partner. MMC Hayden is one of Darcy’s and Kit’s friends and is a major hockey player for the Storms. When Darcy moves to the city, she moves in with Hayden - he becomes her teacher in showing her the ropes on how to be a player.

Hayden and Darcy have something common in their past in that they shared feelings for one another but had never actually told one another. Now that Darcy is freshly single, there is no reason for them to hide their feelings anymore - is there?

Firstly, this cover!!! It is so stunning, I honestly can’t wait to display it on my shelves along with the rest of Stephanie’s books. I absolutely adore Stephanie’s writing. I ate this book up in under two days, it was that good. I felt so good to be back within the Storm hockey team - I adored the fact that Pippa Jamie, Hazel and Rory were included a little more within this book. I always enjoy a hockey romance, but this series is totally up there as one of my favourites.

I loved Darcy’s character. She was so strong in everything she was able to overcome with her worries over her jobs, being able to build her own confidence up. I totally loved Georgia’s help in this - pushing Darcy ever so gently into buying herself nice clothes and clothes that she actually felt good and happy to wear. I feel like Georgia is a right girls girl and has such an amazing aura. After her previous relationship where she felt she couldn’t express her true identity it was really lovely to see Darcy coming out of her shell and sticking up for what she felt was right. I totally felt like the hair was a power move, it was a step further into her new future that she was building for herself. Although Hayden's reaction when she came out of the bathroom to show him what she had done had me laughing. I love the way that Hayden totally accepts Darcy, in every aspect of her being.

Hayden gives off major golden retriever vibes and is just absolutely adorable. He is so protective of Darcy but equally gives her the space that she rightfully deserves to take things slow, at her own pace as well as allowing her time to process next steps as their relationship develops. Hayden is just so loveable and come on, the biggest romantic. The roses covering the kitchen worktop, one bouquet for each year they had been friends - how was Darcy not convinced at this point that Hayden was head of heels for her. I know he wanted to show her what a real Valentine’s date would look like, but you do not put THAT much effort in to make someone's day so special if you don’t have BIG feelings for them. More so, it was the first time he ever bought a girl flowers, I don’t know, something about this had me kicking my feet. We cannot forget the signed book that he got for Darcy either - this was entirely cute to see. We all can appreciate how special this moment was.

Everytime Darcy and Hayden would second guess themselves about the other person's intentions, I was shouting through the pages to just tell one another. I must say that the way this miscommunication trope was done was just delicious. It didn’t get annoying or repetitive - it felt like a natural reaction to what was happening in their heads. The tension between the pair was dripping off of the pages, it felt like slow burn until it wasn't, SO good. "𝚂𝚑𝚎'𝚜 𝚊𝚕𝚠𝚊𝚢𝚜 𝚋𝚎𝚎𝚗 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚐𝚒𝚛𝚕 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚖𝚎". Darcy and Hayden being together just feels so right, they are totally and utterly meant for one another.

I love the entire Storm hockey team - they just feel like one big family. "𝚈𝚎𝚜, 𝙸'𝚖 𝚠𝚎𝚒𝚛𝚍 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚊𝚠𝚔𝚠𝚊𝚛𝚍, 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝙸 𝚐𝚎𝚝 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚏𝚎𝚎𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚢 𝚍𝚘𝚗'𝚝 𝚌𝚊𝚛𝚎, 𝙸 𝚕𝚒𝚔𝚎 𝚒𝚝 𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎, 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝙸 𝚏𝚎𝚎𝚕 𝚕𝚒𝚔𝚎 𝙸'𝚖 𝚏𝚒𝚗𝚊𝚕𝚕𝚢 𝚜𝚝𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚝𝚘 𝚏𝚒𝚗𝚍 𝚖𝚢𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚏". Darcy feeling like she belonged somewhere was so special and I am so glad she found it here. The fact that they all showed up for Darcy’s surprise birthday party as well, dressed up as her favourite book was the sweetest thing. Also, not Luca showing up as Darcy.

I cannot write this review and not include Daniel - I swear I found this so funny.

Don’t even get me started on the double date - it had me giggling the entire way through. I could definitely see Alexei’s plan and it completely worked. I loved seeing Hayden’s jealous side rise. I cannot wait to see what develops with Alexei and Georgia - I feel like these two are going to be so funny. I can feel the tension with them both so far with the tiny snippets they were together in this book. And hello married??? I need my questions answered!
