EDITORIAL REVIEWS Eddi Reader – Angels & Electricity / Blanco Y Negro Audio CD 1998 / 3984-22816-2 UPC 639842281621 /// Angels & Electricity is the fourth studio album by Eddi Reader released in the UK on 11 May 1998. The album has provided Reader with some of her most popular songs including "Kiteflyer's Hill", "Bell, Book and Candle" and "Please Don’t Ask Me to Dance". As usual, Reader draws on a number of songwriters including "On a Whim", written for her by Ron Sexsmith, "Kiteflyer's Hill" by ex-Fairground Attraction band member Mark Nevin and long-time musical partner Boo Hewerdine. The album was to be her last for a major record label, Blanco y Negro (Warners) and Reader would later agree a deal with UK independent label Rough Trade. // Label: Blanco Y Negro – 3984-22816-2 Format: CD, Album Country: UK Released: May 11, 1998 Genre: Folk, World, & Country Style: Country, Folk /// Tracklist: 1 Kiteflyer's Hill Written-By – Nevin 6:07 2 Prayer Wheel Harmony Vocals – Boo Hewerdine, Calum MacColl, Rafe McKenna 4:45 3 Postcard Voice – Brian Kennedy 4:04 4 Wings On My Heels 4:45 5 On A Whim Harmony Vocals – Boo Hewerdine, Rafe McKenna Written-By – Sexsmith 3:09 6 Hummingbird 4:35 7 Barcelona Window Harmony Vocals – Calum MacColl Voice – Brian Kennedy 4:17 8 Bell, Book And Candle 4:13 9 California 4:35 10 Follow My Tears 4:54 11 Psychic Reader 4:13 12 Please Don't Ask Me To Dance Cello – Dinah Beamish 3:24 12+1 Clear Bass – Boo Hewerdine Piano [Thumb] – Calum MacColl 4:39 Acoustic Bass, Electric Bass – Tim Harris (tracks: 1 to 12) Acoustic Guitar – Eddi Reader (tracks: 8), Neill MacColl (tracks: 1, 5, 6) Acoustic Guitar, Mandolin, Dobro, Pedal Steel Guitar – Johnny Scott (tracks: 2 to 4, 7, 9 to 12) Bells – Boo Hewerdine (tracks: 1, 5, 6, 8), Neill MacColl (tracks: 1, 5, 6) Co-producer – Rafe McKenna Electric Guitar – Calum MacColl (tracks: 2 to 4, 7 to 12), Johnny Scott (tracks: 2 to 4, 7, 9 to 12), Neill MacColl (tracks: 1, 5, 6) Engineer [Assistant], Recorded By [Assistant], Mixed By [Assistant] – Barry Hammond (tracks: 2 to 4, 7, 9, 11, 12), James Loughrey (tracks: 8), Jeremy Gil (tracks: 1), Jon Inskip (tracks: 8) Engineer, Mixed By – Rafe McKenna Guitar – Boo Hewerdine (tracks: 1 to 12) Keyboards [Keyboard Noises] – Graham Henderson (tracks: 1, 5, 6), Teddy Borowiecki (tracks: 2 to 4, 7, 9 to 12) Organ [Hammond] – Graham Henderson (tracks: 1, 5, 6), Teddy Borowiecki (tracks: 2 to 4, 7, 9 to 12) Percussion, Drums, Handclaps – Roy Dodds (tracks: 1 to 12) Piano, Harmonium, Melodica – Teddy Borowiecki (tracks: 2 to 4, 7, 9 to 12) Producer – Boo Hewerdine, Eddi Reader Recorded By – Rafe McKenna, Roy Dodds (tracks: 12+1) Slide Guitar, Dulcimer, Zither – Calum MacColl (tracks: 2 to 4, 7 to 12) Written-By – Hewerdine (tracks: 2, 4, 6 to 10, 12), C.MacColl (tracks: 3, 12+1), Reader (tracks: 2, 3, 7, 9 to 11, 12+1), Dodds (tracks: 12+1)
