I like this album a lot but it seems heavily produced, and the drum machine beats at times get monotonous, and have me missing the more organic rhythms of the old Earth, Wind & Fire. The singing though is super soulful and the harmonies rich and deep, and these qualities often make up for the deficiency in the rhythm. The other thing though that I don't like about this album is that the themes are a little more sad. The themes are rather sexual, but overall it doesn't seem quite as loving and feel-good as I think of Earth Wind & Fire as usually being. It's not just the lyrics though, the sounds and harmonies also feel more sad to me. I don't find this album as uplifting as most of this group's albums. Like, whereas most of Earth Wind & Fire's albums have me thinking of a sunny day, this album reminds me of a cold, rainy night in a rust belt city.
