Upon listening to this CD, it became immediately apparent that John Two-Hawks is a bona fide virtuoso. To render music which is so remarkably complex while remaining so beautifully pure is a feat not easily accomplished in solo instrumental improvisation. Further, to be able to demonstrate this level of mastery with first-take material is clearly an indicator of musical genius rarely seen. Yet, with all of that said, I found this music to transcend even my highest standards of virtuosity, rising above lofty critiques and petty definitions and into - as Two-Hawks so aptly said in the liner notes - a 'sacred space.'
