Description

Gilmore uses a variety of techniques to create his paintings. Some of his work could be described as action painting, but his process is far more complex. He has a full knowledge of the materials that he is working with and is committed to using very high quality canvas and paint in all of his paintings. With that knowledge of the materials, there is also the ability to maneuver and manipulate the paint and the combinations of materials that he uses for the final product and creation of art. Gilmore has a wide variety of paintings with an extensive array of techniques. Some paintings have more of a flowing type of painting technique involved with complimenting color schematics, while others have layers upon layers of texture and depth that draw the observer into the painting itself. Gilmore truly loves painting and creating art. His inspiration is drawn from experiences, conversations with a stranger while having a cup of coffee, listening to a piece of music, or simply a feeling that he has at the time. His paintings are not premeditated or planned in anyway. He often writes on the back of his canvases and signs them. Once in a while it will be a song that he listened to and was moved by, other times it could be something happening in the world and his painting is his interpretation or response to changes and daily occurrences.
